Mrs Veronica Cook
Clinical Director & Senior Psychologist, Assoc. MAPS
Veronica is the owner and Clinical Director of The Lighthouse Psychology Practice. As well as being registered with AHPRA, she is an Associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), member of the Association of Psychologists in Developmental Disability (PsychDD); and a registered Medicare Australia Provider.
She is an approved Supervisor for Provisionally Registered Psychologists and provides professional development training on a range of topics to allied health professionals and other disciplines. Veronica has worked in private and community health settings for over 15 years in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, grief & loss and personality disorders across the lifespan.
Veronica has a particular interest in working with men and women presenting with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and/or complex trauma resulting in problem behaviours such as drug/ alcohol abuse, sexual promiscuity, binge eating, self harm and suicidal self injury. She also enjoys working with people who present with poor self image and identity.
Veronica also has a special interest in supporting families with parenting challenges, relationship issues (Couples Counselling) and perinatal concerns. She supports women with peri-natal depression/ anxiety and psychosis; bonding/ attachment difficulties between mother and baby/ child. She is accredited in Circle of Security- Parenting, supporting women with attachment based parenting.
Veronica employs Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy and Schema Therapy in her work with patients; as well as short-term Imago informed Couples Counselling. Veronica is Work Cover accredited and is a lead facilitator of group Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Veronica consults from both our Moorebank and Campbelltown rooms; however, is no longer accepting new clients as she is now on maternity leave.
